My Fave 5 Reward Programs

There is something that I find extremely satisfying about knowing that I have savings sitting on some app somewhere or some sort of freebie that’s owed to me. Today I’m going to share some of my favorite reward programs.

1. Buffalo Wild Wings’ Blazin’ Rewards

This is my newest reward program that I use. It’s possibly also close to my favorite, although it’s not quite there. I haven’t had it that long, but I’ve already racked up enough points to get free small boneless wings! The way it works is fairly standard. You earn 100 points for every $10 that you spend. There’s a handy QR code at the bottom of your receipt, so it’s super easy to earn your points at the end of your visit.

What’s really neat about this program is that you can also earn points for checking in. If you create a group and all of your friends also check in, you all earn more points!

I haven’t redeemed any offers yet, but the FAQs say that all you have to do is order whatever you want to redeem and then let your server know so he/she can remove it from your bill. You just have to give them the phone number that you registered with.

2. ibotta

This is one of three grocery rebate apps that I use. It takes a little bit of effort and you have to choose the things you might want a rebate for before doing your shopping, but the savings do add up. For the most part, you just choose some of your favorite stores and when you’re ready to go shopping, look through the current offers. The offers vary in how long they’re available, much like Sunday newspaper coupons.

When you find an offer you like, click the plus to add it. The next part is the only complaint I have about ibotta. For most of the offers, it takes you to a separate page where you usually either have to watch a video or answer a question or two to actually activate your offer. While the videos are short, it’s still a minor annoyance. But once you get your offers selected, you can head out and do your shopping.

When you’re back from shopping, open the app back up to redeem your offers. You’ll have to scan your items and take a couple pictures of your receipt to submit. In addition to the normal offers, ibotta also likes to offer bonus rewards. You can link up with friends and then cooperatively work on bonuses. For example, the June bonus is to personally redeem 10 offers and your team has to earn $10. Another example is the current P&G bonus. You get an extra $2 added to your account if you redeem three P&G items from a list.

ibotta has yet another way they reward their fans. When you first sign up, you get a $10 reward. Then, if you refer other people, you can also earn $5. If you would like to check out the app and take advantage of the $10 reward, use this link to sign up.

When you’re all done saving lots of money, you have a few different options to redeem your savings. Once you reach $20 you can cash out through Venmo or PayPal, or you can choose to receive a gift card. They have lots of gift card options.

3. Checkout 51

Checkout 51 is quite similar to ibotta, with a few noticeable differences. First of all, no videos to watch when you choose your offers. I don’t find quite as many good offers, but I do find some. You have to be careful, though, because some of them are store specific. Another difference is that they update their lists every Thursday. If you don’t buy the item you want before the week ends, you’re out of luck. However, some of the offers do seem to be regulars. With Checkout 51, they send you a check once your account reaches $20.

4. Meijer mPerks

If you’re lucky enough to live in one of the few states with Meijer, they have one of the best reward programs I’ve seen. mPerks has changed the details of how they operate in the last year or so, but it’s still a great program. Not only do you save on special sale items that are for mPerks members only, but you also earn additional coupon rewards for your purchases.

You used to have to choose which rewards you wanted to work toward, but now when you make a qualified purchase in any of the available rewards, it will automatically begin that reward for you. There is almost always a total purchase reward, but they also have other ones they rotate through, like get a $5 coupon after you purchase $50 in gift cards.

One of the most helpful features for me is digital coupons. I’m that person who would spend time to go through the Sunday paper to cut the coupons and make a list partially around said coupons… and then FORGET TO GRAB THE COUPONS. With the Meijer digital coupons, I can rack up more savings without having to remember anything other than my phone number for mPerks.

You can also keep track of your savings in the app. I saved 23% on my purchases in May, which was $239.83. I can’t even imagine spending that extra $239.83 in groceries for one month!

5. Speedway Speedy Rewards

Speedy Rewards is definitely my top favorite reward program. I currently have 51,274 points saved up, which is really close to being able to get a $50 gift card from places like Amazon, Applebees, or Lowes. (You need 60,000 points.) Of course they have the points/dollar rewards, but they also have bonuses, like some of the apps above. For example, each month they have two bonuses for you to choose from for the monthly bonus. For this month, I’ve chosen 100 points per day on beverages. That means if I get any of their coffees, fountain drinks, freezes, etc., I get 100 bonus points. They also rotate through in store bonuses. Sometimes it’s something like buy two certain candy bars and get 300 points. You can really rack up the points!

In addition–and this is probably the feature that makes them my favorite program–they have clubs. If you buy six Dr. Peppers, you get your 7th free. If you buy six snack size bags of chips, you get your 7th free. If you buy six donuts, you get your 7th one free. I’m constantly getting freebies!

So those are some of my favorite reward programs. Do you use any of the ones on my list? Do you have any favorite programs I may have missed? What do you like best about them?
